Our 3 weeks of FREE Starter Cover is a great first step in protecting your new fur baby.  Being a new pet parent can be stressful so it’s nice to know you can settle in your pet whilst avoiding any unexpected vet bills resulting from accidental injury and illness.

1. Terms & Conditions:

This FREE Starter Cover  provides up to a total value of $1,000 for licensed vet expenses relating to unexpected, unforeseen, sudden, reasonable, essential, & customary treatment necessary to treat your pet for an accidental injury or illness incurred during the period of this FREE Starter Cover.

for the purposes of these TERMS & CONDITIONS the words “you” and “your” mean the owner of the pet specified on the application of this FREE Starter Cover.  The words “we,” “us” and “our” means PD Insurance.

this FREE Starter Cover is provided by PD Insurance to new pet parents who have recently acquired a new fur baby, aged between 6 weeks to 30 weeks of age on application.

Excess to pay $125 when you claim

the FREE Starter Cover begins at 11:59pm on the start date listed on your Certificate of Insurance and concludes at 11.59pm on the expiry date listed on your Certificate of Insurance.

this FREE Starter Cover is to help you cover unforeseen licensed vet bills.  It is important that you understand the benefits, as well as your responsibilities the terms, limits, and exclusions under this FREE Starter Cover.  Please take the time to read this document carefully. 

$1,000 is the maximum value we will pay for all claims combined under this FREE Starter Cover offer.

2. Conditions of Cover:

You must provide all reasonable care for your new pet and protect it from accidental injuries and illness.  You must seek licensed vet treatment as soon as your pet first displays any signs or symptoms of injury or illness.  At our request you must provide us with any documentation and/or agreements entered at the time of purchasing your new pet.

3. Claiming:

Should you need to make a claim under this FREE Starter Cover, you must provide us with all details including all documentation we may require to assess your claim, and you must authorise your vet to release this information to us. 

All claims must be submitted within 30 days of the end date of your FREE Starter Cover, or it may be declined, regardless of the date the treatment occurred.  Please register your claim at [email protected]

If any claim you make is in any way fraudulent, if any false declaration is made, or if false or incorrect information is provided in support of your application for this FREE Starter Cover or for any claim, we may decline your claim and your cover may be cancelled effective from the date that the incorrect statement or fraudulent claim was made to us.

4. What happens after 3 weeks?

Your Starter Cover ends after 3 weeks.  Then you can choose to continue with PD Insurance by simply choosing the plan and the excess that best suits you.  Take advantage of our 1 MONTH FREE offer & with no gap in cover, any applicable waiting periods will be calculated from the start date of your FREE Starter Cover.

5. Exclusions under this FREE Starter Cover:

We will not be responsible or liable for any claims, costs or losses of any kind relating to or because of:

  • any illnesses (including any related clinical conditions, signs, or symptoms of illness) arising before or within 3 days of the FREE Starter Cover start date as recorded on your Certificate of Insurance;
  • any injuries (including any related clinical conditions, signs, or symptoms of injury) arising before the FREE Starter Cover start date as recorded on the Certificate of Insurance;
  • any pet that is less than 6 weeks old or more than 30 weeks old at the FREE Starter Cover start date as recorded on your Certificate of Insurance;
  • brachycephalic airway syndrome (elongated soft palate, stenotic nares, everted laryngeal saccules, laryngeal collapse, tracheal hypoplasia)
  • congenital or hereditary conditions, including but not limited to hip/elbow dysplasia, cherry eye, and umbilical hernias;
  • treatment or preventative treatment or routine care including but not limited to food, ectoparasites (such as fleas) or endoparasites (such as intestinal worms);
  • vaccinations, desexing and any treatment which is not to directly treat an accidental injury or illness;
  • dental, cosmetic, or elective treatment, including but not limited to dew claw removal;
  • canine parvovirus, canine distemper, canine infectious hepatitis, kennel cough, leptospirosis,  unless you can provide evidence that your pet was up to date. with its vaccinations at the time signs or symptoms first presented;
  • your failure to provide all reasonable care for your pet’s health and wellbeing or your failure to protect your pet from illness or injury, which may include (but is not limited to), your failure to protect it from injuries inflicted by fighting with other animals, or from the ingestion of toxic or obstructive substances, objects, or food;
  • funeral expenses or the cost of post-mortem;
  • malicious acts, mistreatment, deliberate injury, or gross negligence towards your pet caused by you, any member of your immediate family, or any other person who normally resides with you and your pet;
  • any amounts charged by your vet for providing information in relation to your claim
  • house visits and/or after-hours treatment unless your vet confirms that moving your pet would either endanger its life or significantly worsen their condition and is deemed medically essential to our satisfaction;
  • equipment including but not limited to crates, housing, and Elizabethan collars;
  • postage, courier fees or administration costs
  • non-medically required euthanasia and/ or euthanasia of your pet due to a court or council order for it to be destroyed;
  • your business or occupation, or your pet being used for the purpose of any business, occupation (except for assistance dogs), hunting or sport;
  • any declared epidemic causing widespread illness to dogs;
  • war, riot, civil commotion, terrorism, natural disaster, or similar events;

6. Privacy Notice:

PD will collect, hold, and use your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 and any Act that Repeals or replaces it.  In accordance with the applicable Privacy laws, all individuals have the right to access and correct their personal information held by PD Insurance. From time-to-time PD Insurance may also use your information to provide you with communications updating you on the full range of services it offers.
