Travelling with a furry friend is amazingly fun. No wonder it’s a travel trend on the up! In fact, a recent TripAdvisor survey found that 53% of respondents travel with their pets, and 52% will only stay at pet friendly Airbnbs or cat and dog friendly accommodation spots.

With more or less half of travellers cruising around with Felix or Fido, places of hospitality are going to need to adapt to make room for the fur kids – or lose out on a huge chunk of business.

Luckily, there are some amazing cat and dog friendly accommodation spots in Australia that welcome pets with open paws. We’ve rounded up some for you here. And if these don’t quite tick the boxes, remember there’s a handy pet search function on Airbnb to make finding pet-friendly spots easier. We’ll link to it later on.

Let’s get into it!

It overlooks Byron Creek and is a 10-minute drive to the ever popular Byron Bay. Two Byron Bay beaches – Belongil and Tallow – allow dogs off-leash, so your pooch (or cat) will be in seventh sandy heaven. Just remember to read our cat and dog water safety tips before you go!

Here are the amenities at this pet-friendly Airbnb you’ll be able to enjoy:

  • Outdoor shower and two vintage claw-foot bathtubs
